Statement of intent
My initial thoughts on this project was that we would just be taking pictures of nature and man made but slowly escalating through our project I became aware that there was so much to photography other then taking pictures we took photos of fruit veg nature environment you name it.
When I chose this theme, my initial thoughts were of natural textures such as fruit and feathers after thinking about the project title more thoroughly I realize there are so many more routes for my work to go down such as man made textures how I could combine and contrast the different textures and if I could do studio shots well as going outside on location the images I would like to take are close-ups using telescopic lens texture around my house the fur on my pet bikes food.
To show progression though my work I will start by photographing the fruits and plants that I can bring into school I will then develop these images further by taking more ideas from them and editing them in photoshop. I then hope to venture from within Manchester and gather texture images from the environment around me. I already have a lot of ideas running though my mind for this project which will propel me in the right direction. The one area I would like to focus on is
would be the natural texture of the images.
I have 3 months to produce my Website of work towards the production of my final piece. I aim to complete my initial research within the 3 week and start photographing by the 4th week in order to give me the time I need to show progression. I will then continue to develop my work in Photoshop and be prepared to go out again with my camera and capture new images to enhance my project. When I have completed the project, I will select my best photography outcomes and display them in my final gallery.develop ideas in photo pea and then refine and focus on one particular area
I will then continue to develop my work in Photoshop/photo pea and be prepared to go out again with my camera and capture next images to my project. I would like to get images as weather such as fog, sunny, rain, snow. When I have completed the project. I will select my best photography outcomes and display then in my gallery.
As my project progresses I will use annotations throughout my web page labeling my ideas and development clearly. This will also help me to reflect on the work I produce. I will mainly seek advice from my teachers and my peers on how to make my work better, as I’m always aiming to push myself to new levels. I will also watch tutorials and demonstrations and find my own as well to help me develop my skills and knowledge of Photoshop. After the creation of my final portfolio I will write a final evaluation on the project as a whole, reflecting on what went well and what I would do differently or change given the time.

For this project I am going to focus on texture and i'm going to specifically focus on different types of textures. For example trees leaves metal and many other man made objects. To show my work I have built my own photography website called weebly. At first i found it hard but then got some more experience and made my website to look a lot more sophisticated. At then end of my project I'm going to make a small gallery of one picture of each topic.
For my initial research I will start looking into photographers to get a better perspective and view of texture. The 3 I have in mind are Roe Etrhidge ,Imogen Cunningham and Marc Anderson.I chose Roe because of the rotting fruits which is relevant for my topic and then i chose Imogen because of her black and white which can bring out true pictures from when cameras were first invented without "4k quality" and finally I chose Mark because of his abstract pictures of nature and pure object that was made before humans.
When I chose my theme my initial thoughts were fruit leaves plants and feathers after thinking about the project tittle more thoroughly I had come to the conclusion that there are many routes my work could go down such as man made and different texture combinations and also and if I could do studio shots as well as outside work. As well as my thoughts on the word texture I had thoughts on the type of photos such as shots of peppers mushrooms etc. But I thought this is my project I can take any pics as long as it revolves around texture. So I took pics of cars bikes grids puddles spider webs and all sorts.
To show progression I will start photographing my fruit and the rest of my work I will then take this further by using photoshop and photopea to edit my work onto a further level.I could then got to numerous places in manchester to get some good shots of some textural work.I already have many ideas planned in mind

Grass Research
COMPOSITION
In this image I can see that the photographer has used the ‘Rule of Thirds’, because there are 2 trees on the left hand side that sit in the ‘sweet spot’. This technique makes the viewer look at that part of the image. In my opinion, I think that the trees really stand out against the grass because the colour of the tree is dark compared to the colour of the grass which is really bright. You can also see the detail of the bark on the trunks, this makes me feel that the photographer may have had a telescopic lens on their camera as everything is in sharp focus. I can also see a small amount of sky in the top left hand corner which helps to frame the image. It helps to make sense of the photograph and to give it a depth of field, we have the close-up grass in the foreground, the two trees in the middle ground and the small patch of sky in the distance.
The photograph has a tight crop, this makes you look at the swirling grass in front of you, which makes me think of how strong the wind might be as it is making the grass swirl. For me, when I look at this picture I feel there is a strong leading line from the bottom right hand side to the top left hand side which is created by the swirling grass The natural light has highlighted the grass which brings it to life and in my opinion, I think the photographer did not use a tripod, the camera setting would have been a large F Stop, such as 36 as there is a deep depth of field and the ISO 100.
CONTEXT
Is there foreground, middle ground and distance? In this image, I can see a foreground, middleground and a distance. The grass is right in front of the picture plane, you have 2 trees in the midground and right in the distance there is a hint of the sky. This creates an impact because you get a sense of scale, there is also a depth of field and I think the photographer would have set their camera to an Fstop of about 36 as you can clearly see everything in focus.
What is the lighting like and what impact does this have? Is it natural lighting or studio and are there contrasts? So when I look at this image I can clearly see that the photographer has used the natural sunlight and they have managed to capture the way the sun dances on the surface of the grass, glows…. Reflection…… golden highlights of sun The golden light on the grass acts as a contrast to the dark, almost black of the upright tree trunks and so adds real interest to the photograph.
How is the camera set-up? ISO / White balance/ Shutter speed/ Aperture (Fstop) exposure In my opinion, I think the photographer has set their camera on auto ISO or 100/200 White balance, auto or set on cloudy/sun I think the aperture is set quite deep as we can see the background clearly, so F27-F36 Looking at the image I can see that everything is in sharp focus and so I think the shutter was fast as there is no blur. They may have used a tripod when taking the photo so that they could keep the camera steady and get the sharp image they wanted .
I really like this image because I like the way the photographer has captured the moving golden grass and I think it will inspire to take my own images around the theme of Texture.
Connections
To get my project started I have decided to look at the picture of the grass. I am particular interested in researching texture of grass and flowers photography. capturing something that should be beautiful like the texture and how it is shaped. I am going to use this work to inspire my own photography by doing a gallery of grass and flowers. I will use close up, studio shots ,rule of thirds and contrast to make my own photography better.

Imogen Cunnigham research.
Composition
Imogen Cunningham uses contrast in her image as she uses a light and dark color to make the image stand out. The light on the image makes you focus on the petal in the photograph against the black background which gives a monochromatic effect to the image. Sweet spot is in the bottom left corner on a grid, the eye is drawn straight to the Centre where the flower is. In the foreground the flower catches the eye of the person looking at the image because the background is black and dark so the flower stands out because it is white. The flower image has been cropped tightly so that it looks like a very clear close up image . The image has curved and spiral lines created by the petals and leaves of the plant, down into the Centre of the flower, leading your eye again into the Centre. In my opinion, I think this image is a Studio shot composed carefully using studio lighting, tripod for the camera. The Contrast brings out a big difference between the black of the background and the white of the flower which Brings out the form and shape of the flower. In my opinion, I think this image is a Studio shot because the image has a black background which tells me it was most likely taken in a studio with studio light so we can see the petals, tripod for the camera to keep it still and level. IMOGEN CUNNINGHAM (AMERICAN, 1883 - 1976 ) I have researched about Imogen Cunningham on the internet "Imogen Cunningham occupies a singular position in the history of American art of the twentieth century. For over half the history of photography, she explored- with innovation and a new perspective- all the major traditions associated with the medium as fine art. She has been most widely acclaimed for the photographs made during the 1920s and 1930s, particularly close-up images of plants and nudes. She also made portraits which are now considered classics in photography, including images of Alfred Stieglitz, Spencer Tracy, and Martha Graham. She was a founding member of the West Coast-based Group f.64, which championed an un-manipulated, direct approach with the camera, or “straight” photography. Her photographs are represented in major collections and museums around the world. The Weston Gallery represents the Imogen Cunningham Trust and have vintage, modern as well as posthumous prints available. Please contact us for acquisitions." I have sourced this in formation from the website below

Roe Ethridge research
Context
To start my photography project and to gain inspiration, I am going to research 3 different photographers, the first photographer I am going to research is Roe Etheridge. I have looked on the internet and found the following information “Roe Ethridge (American, born 1969) takes equally from his work as a commercial photographer, and artist. Blurring the lines that separate the two, Ethridge creates images that are simultaneously generic and intimate, often treading between humor and cynicism. Functioning in tandem, these motivations coalesce into an ongoing investigation into the mechanics of photographs, and their ability to both retreat into the personal, and expand to relay collective experiences. In 2016, the Contemporary Art Center, Cincinnati mounted the first comprehensive survey of Ethridge’s work in an American Museum, titled Nearest Neighbor. Other solo exhibitions include Shelter Island, FOAM, Amsterdam, 2016 and Le Consortium, Dijon, 2012, traveled to Museum Leuven, Leuven, 2012. Ethridge has additionally participated in numerous group exhibitions including The Poetics of Place: Contemporary Photographs from the Met Collection, Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, 2016, Human Interest: Portraits from the Whitney’s Collection, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, 2016, Perfect Likeness: Photography and
Composition
In my opinion, when I look at this image, I can see that Roe Etheridge has used the rule of thirds, because the orange site in the ‘sweet spot’, in the top right hand side. This makes us look at that particular piece of fruit. I can also that the bowl is sitting on a barrel which is in the bottom third of the image, this makes the fruit stand out. In the composition he has made sure that there is a blank canvas (background) around the fruit bowl so that it stands out What it the color of the background and why has he chosen color? There are a lot of curved shapes The image is tightly cropped so that we focus on the fruit bowl and do not distracted by other objects, I think the photographer wants us to focus on the mold. Framed by using the brown paper and strawberries
Connections
I've chosen to look at a number of photographers to get my project started. I'm especially interested in learning more about photographers who have used fruits in their work. I'm looking at Roe Ethridge's work because he has a unique style of photography that focuses on rotting fruit. By documenting something that should be perfect but isn't, he forces us to reconsider. I'm going to use his work as inspiration for my own photography by taking time lapses of rotting fruit. To enhance my photography, I'll use close-ups, studio shots, the rule of thirds, and contrast. Comment In my view, I like her work because the contrast and shadow in her photography make the photographs stand out. She also has a unique style of photographing, such as cropping and using the rule of thirds, which is another reason I like her work. She employs a shallow depth of area, which is excellent.

This is my worst image because From the angling in this photo I like it alot because there is a slight focus in the back that just
the angling and wb was of point makes the photo look a lot more professional which makes the photo more appealing.
and also it it was from a high view

Developing my images using photopea
Developing my image using black and white
Final image
This is my first image that I have used photopea to develop using this software I started to use a adjustment filter and then picked a black and white filter I moved some individual colors to that I could have some good contrast to develop my image further I decided to add a lens fare in my opinion I love that I have managed to develop as I think it adds more flavor to my picture

plan shoot for my final ideas
For my final images I would like to take pictures of cars engines, treads etc. want to take part in this topic because cars interest me I would do 1-6 photos per car to ensure I have a mass variety would take photos of cars in daylight and darkness because they stand out in both circumstances. i could also use photopea to develop my images further. I want to do cars because its a big interest and i would use a camera provided by school which is a canon dslr.

Evaluation
My main theme was different textures such as man made and natural, I started my project with natural textures such as fruits I then went on to take images of man made textures to give my project a selection of different images. For my project I found the pictures of the cars the most interesting because there's a mass variety to choose from and also different parts of the car that you can get a good shot of. I have learnt changing the camera setting to develop my images further. I would now use rule of thirds to develop my images. During the project we researched roe Ethridge and Imogen Cunningham we also used them both as influencers.
The technique I used the most was rule of thirds. I think the most successful part of my project would definitely be my final shoot plan because I used all my ideas for it. I did not encounter and problems in my project because I chose something I like and that is easy for me. If I was given another chance to re do it I would take more images of texture I would go on location to get more natural looking textures. But because of Covid and restrictions I feel I have been limited to what I could do. I had used me past knowledge to show my skills and use it to my advantage to show my work off.
Imogen Cunningham really had a effect upon my photography skills, as you can see, the research I did upon him, he did black and white pictures and he influenced me to do the same as him. I enjoyed the kaleidoscope technique the most as it comes out amazingly and it really stunning when it is complete making a amazing pattern through the center off the image.
The most successful part off my project is most definitely the photoshop skills i had learnt coming along with the photography I did with different types off lenses. In my project I did not enjoy any problems, however i encountered difficulties which i evolved up and improved, problems is not the word for my improvements. I learnt from my mistakes by doing my researching and learning how to improve instead off constantly asking for help from other people. I independently done well for myself and advanced my work.
If II had done this project again I most definitely would have learned more techniques to advance my work and make it a much better such as fade away photoshops and not repeating the same image which the mirror technique and black and white, I would've advanced them even more and I wish I could do different techniques and look at tutorials of them. I feel as though my final images are good, but they are not perfect, I will try to learn more photoshops as it will look better with different outcomes.
